KTW — The German standard for plastic materials and drinking water, defined by the guidelines of the German Environment Agency (UBA), which verifies the chemical safety of materials in contact with drinking water.

DVGW W270 certificate (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water) confirms the compliance of equipment with all technical and hygienic requirements.
In accordance with Article 14 of the German Drinking Water Ordinance — TrinkwV[1], materials used in water meters must satisfy these requirements, guaranteeing that the device will not contribute to bacterial contamination within the water supply system.
The technical rules of DVGW are linked to and rely upon the DIN EN ISO 4064 standard, indicating that water meters are subject to verification requirements under Germany's Federal MessEG (Measures and Verification Act). (The combined abbreviation DIN EN ISO signifies that the document is adopted simultaneously across three levels: International (ISO), European (EN), and German (DIN)).
Together, these regulations ensure that any component used in German drinking water systems (meters, valves, pipes, measuring and control instruments, etc.) is: legally compliant (TrinkwV), chemically safe (KTW), resistant to microbiological impact (W270), and fully tested and certified by a recognized authority (DVGW).
